The establishment of this garden began in the year 1999, on a land of 5 acres (20,000 m2) taken from a 55-acre (220,000 m2) plot which was allotted for building a memorial for N. T. Rama Rao, a famous Telugu actor who also served as the Chief Minister of the then non-bifurcated Andhra Pradesh three times (the third and final term being in the mid to late 1990s).It is named after the former Chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. T. Rama Rao who was also a famous and celebrated actor in the Telugu film industry.
